MANOWAR's twelfth studio album, The Lord Of Steel, will hit the stores on October 19, 2012. In celebration of the band's upcoming tour, the digital album is available now on www.metalondemand.com.
The retail edition of the album, that was pre-released in a strictly limited 'Hammer Edition' earlier this year, features a 24 page booklet, an opulent new illustration by fantasy artist Ken Kelly, a brand new song titled 'The Kingdom Of Steel', entirely different mixes and many new arrangements compared to the limited pre-release; making both editions completely unique and special.
"It will feel like you experienced The Lord Of Steel for the first time!" said Joey DeMaio.
The CD will also be available on the upcoming The Lord Of Steel World Tour during which MANOWAR will perform some of the new material for the first time live, and will also introduce their brand new stage production.
"We can't wait to unleash The Lord Of Steel live. It's going to be massive!" said Eric Adams.
“MANOWAR have always dared to do things differently. You have to look at these two versions like a movie that comes out in alternate versions; a Director’s Cut or alternate endings” explained bassist Joey DeMaio the different albums.“For those of you who enjoyed the first taste ofThe Lord Of Steel, meaning the Metal Hammer Edition, I can tell you that the forthcoming Lord Of Steel release on Magic Circle Entertainment will be even more unique and yes, more brutal.” he continued.
Described by the press as “a brutal and unstoppable force of molten metal” and “flawlessly heavy” The Lord Of Steel is a raw-to-the-bone production, merging vintage elements with the trademark sound MANOWAR have developed over the years. “When you have to make room for literally hundreds of other instruments such as Orchestras, Choirs, Marching Armies on Gods Of War for example, you have to create sonic space for that. The fewer instruments you have the louder they can be individually. As an artist you want to give your audience new experiences. This is not ‘elevator music’. This is an album that hits you hard right between the eyes and does not let up.” said Joey DeMaio.
For their twelfth studio album MANOWAR have tapped into the world of action heroes and their stories, writing their first song specifically for a Hollywood movie, ‘EL GRINGO’ and another one, Expendable, inspired by Sylvester Stallone’s action movie franchise ‘The Expendables’. The band has meanwhile confirmed their next movie project, ‘Soldiers’, for ‘The Expendables 2’ star Jean-Claude Van Damme.
From the furious title track and the pumping ‘Black List’, to the power ballad ‘Righteous Glory’ and the Ennio Morricone homage ‘El Gringo’ - The Lord Of Steelis full of surprises.
The Lord Of Steel - Track By Track: (in random order)
Touch The Sky is a powerful anthem about unleashing your inner courage and strength to stand up and believe in yourself; no matter what.
Hail, Kill & Die is a message to all the false metal people and everyone who hate MANOWAR, their fans and true metal.
Annihilation is fast moving and hard hitting, in contrast to Righteous Glory - a slow, dynamic, power track with a deep meaning and a tribute to female warriors.
Expendable is an action movie track inspired by the Expendables movies. The no-nonsense straightforward action of the movies fits perfectly with our ongoing battle for metal.
El Gringo is a song that was composed for a movie titled El Gringo; a hard-hitting, action-packed movie that kicks ass from beginning to end. Played over the end credit roll, the song sums up the hero’s struggle between true values and cheap victories.
Born In A Grave tells the story of vampires or just evil beings; that lust for blood and their cursed immortality.
Manowarriors is dedicated to the MANOWAR fans. It is about their lifestyle and their never-ending faith, and why they are the best fans in the world. Manowarriors is a true metal hymn in its best sense.
Black List is a track that is dedicated to all of us who have ever felt as if society did not accept them. And that it is okay, because we don't accept society either. We live by our own rules!
The Kingdom Of Steel is another epic power ballad, majestic and seductive at the same time.
